Amerisleep AS2 Mattress Review

Helen

Many people prefer to sleep on a memory foam mattress because it has body contouring capabilities that adjust to its users. But unlike your average all-foam mattress, the Amerisleep AS2 is an ideal option for those who want to have an experience that offers support and comfort at the same time.

One of the things that Amerisleep addressed in the AS2 is the fact that a lot of people have back problems. It has developed a technology that helps in easing tension in your back, promoting comfort and spinal alignment. But is there anything else that you need to worry of? In our Amerisleep AS2 review will give you a better idea of the pros and cons of this increasingly popular product.

Who Is This Mattress Best For?

Who Won't Love This Mattress?

The Amerisleep AS2

"Suits all types of sleeping position and compatible with all types of bed."

The AS2 Layers & Construction

The Amerisleep AS2 mattress is 12-inches thick. This alone makes it something that can support some serious weight. This mattress was designed to be the second firmest option made by the company. Its construction is a combination of specialist Bio-Pur® eco-friendly memory foam to promote comfort and support without the sinkage feeling of being stuck.

The Amerisleep AS2 is composed of a cover, a comfort layer, a transition layer, and a thick base foam foundation. The cover is made of the material used on other Amerisleep mattresses, which is a soft and comfortable polyester, Celliant, and spandex material that gives it a stretchy feel. It allows the cover to adjust whether you are sleeping on one side or you have a partner sleeping on the other as well. Celliant material is helpful when it comes to helping the muscles recover—therefore making it an ideal mattress for back pain.

A Little About Certifications

The Amerisleep AS2 mattress is a favorite among different consumers because it has plant-infused Bio-Pur® foams that have been CertiPur US certified. What it means is that there were no harmful materials used in making the foams in this mattress. This certification means that there are no dangerous levels of chemicals such as lead and mercury. This makes it a good option for both environmentally friendly and health-conscious buyers.

Comfort & Firmness

The Amerisleep AS2 is a medium-firm mattress, meaning it’s not too firm, but slightly harder than a medium firmness. Compared with others, it’s firmer than your average mattress. At BetterSlumber we rate mattresses on a firmness scale of 1-10, 1 being the softest and 10 being the firmest. We’d rate the Amerisleep AS2 as a 7/10.

Mattress firmness scale: 7 / 10

It has that firmness perfect for those who are a bit heavy or those who are suffering from back problems. While sleeping on the mattress, you won’t feel as if you’re getting stuck. Customers familiar with memory foam mattresses will know that you will feel a bit of sinkage; however, you can change positions without any problem.

Controlling Body Temperature

One of the biggest concerns when it comes to budget memory foam mattresses is that they often get too hot when used all night. So, how does the AS2 feel at night? There are things about the materials used here that make it less hot than other memory foam mattresses. However, you have to understand that it is still made from a type of memory foam. It will never be as cool as an innerspring or latex mattress. However, the open-cell design plus the Celliant fabric used in the cover does a good job of keeping the mattress to a neutral temperature.

Motion Transfer & Max Weight

Amerisleep AS2 shines best when it comes to its ability to isolate motion due to the premium foam composition. This makes it a great choice whether you are living with a large dog or you sleep with your partner.

On top of that, the mattress can support heavier users as you buy larger options. For instance, a Twin-sized AS2 mattress can support up to 400 lbs. On the other hand, it can support as much as 800 lbs combined on a Queen size mattress.

Edge Support Rating

Amerisleep as2 mattress

If you’re the type of sleeper who sleeps right on the side of the bed, you might not have a great experience with the Amerisleep AS2. However, it isn’t exactly the worst we’ve reviewed. It does well compared to other all-foam mattresses.

If you decide to sleep on your back, you won’t feel that much difference, even if you are on the edge. However, once you sleep on your side and position yourself close to the bed edge, you might have a feeling of falling off the mattress.

That said, it doesn’t have the worst edge support in comparison to foam mattresses. It’s just that it isn’t as good as innerspring or hybrid mattresses in this category. As far as edge support goes, it is mediocre at best.

Shipping, Warranty, & Sleep Trial

The mattress is shipped for free to your address using FedEx as long as it is within the contiguous United States. It should arrive within a week or so, and comes in a large cardboard box, as with most mattresses purchased online nowadays.

You also get to enjoy a 100 night free trial along with it. If you’re unhappy with the AS2 for whatever reason, call the customer support team on (800) 500-4233 to arrange free return of the product.

A lengthy warranty is always a great idea when it comes to mattresses. It’s not unknown for even the best memory mattresses to sag or become defective in some way after years of regular usage. Amerisleep offers a 20-year warranty on the AS2 model, which is very impressive given the price of the mattress and in comparison to other foam mattresses in this class.

Who Should Buy The Amerisleep AS2 Mattress

Couples who share the bed

If you have a partner who tends to have a difficult time sleeping, he or she won’t bother you with their movement. It works well when it comes to isolating the motion thanks to the different layers of eco-friendly foam.

People who sleep with pets

If you also have a large pet that sleeps beside you, you will not get startled in the middle of the night because of the way the AS2 isolates motion.

Heavy individuals

Heavy individuals usually feel as if they are sinking too much when using most foam mattresses. But with multiple layers of foam and a medium-firm feel with the AS2 mattress, even those who are above 230 pounds won’t feel much of a sinking sensation.

Those who prefer to sleep in memory foam but hate being stuck

One of the most common problems when it comes to memory foams is that if it’s too soft or you weigh a lot, you may feel stuck and restricted from moving around easily. It’s a common problem that you usually get because this type of foam contours the body. With the Amerisleep AS2, it has a good bounce that allows you to toss and turn in bed without that sinking feeling. And also, let’s not forget that the last layer of the AS2 mattress is a 7-inch high-density foam keeping you propped up.

People who sleep on their stomachs and backs

Those who tend to sleep on their stomach or back, usually feel that they don’t get the support that they need. But with the AS2 mattress, it can carry your weight regardless of the desired sleeping position. If you decide to sleep on your stomach the pressure on body organs will not be too firm to cause discomfort.
