US based PlushBeds is not new to the mattress industry. They have been around longer than most of the other startups that have taken the industry by storm. However, what makes PlushBeds different from the rest is their focus and attention to using natural materials and creating products that are less harmful to the environment. Their products come with an extensive lineup of certifications making them one of the most eco-friendly and health conscious latex mattress providers on the market.
In our latest review of their products, we’ll be looking at the PlushBeds Natural Latex Topper.
The Talalay processed topper is made of 100% pure latex, which means there are no harmful additives or toxic gasses emitting at any point. Many toppers claim to be made of latex but only have small amounts of pure latex, while the rest is blended, or synthetic. This isn’t the case here; you’ll be paying for pure 100% natural organic latex. The synthetic-free composition ensures a resilient construction and long life. The PlushBeds Natural Latex topper won’t sag in areas or break down and will always spring back into shape when used each night, unlike other materials such as memory foam, which will degrade much quicker than latex. It’s worth noting that PlushBeds claim this topper will last up to 20 years.
You can choose between a 2″ thick or a 3″ thick option. The 3″ option will have more “give” and will, therefore, be naturally softer too. However, you can tailor your firmness when making your purchase, so if you prefer a 3″ option that is firm, this is an option at checkout. See the ILD ratings below.
Latex toppers don’t always come with a cover, and sadly that’s the case here. If you want one, you can opt to pay for a 100% organic cotton cover at checkout at an approximate cost of $85 (correct at the time of writing in Jan 2020).
One of the best things about companies like PlushBeds is that they have total control over their manufacturing of the product. This means choosing specific firmnesses according to your needs is much more flexible than someone who offers a universal feel for all like many mattress companies do.
With the PlushBeds latex topper, you get to choose from 3 different firmness levels. These are rated in ILD. The ILD for the PlushBeds latex toppers are as follows:
- Soft: (19-21 ILD) – Recommended for back or side sleepers
- Medium: (24-26 ILD) – Best for side sleepers
- Medium-firm: (29-31 ILD) – Slightly firmer than medium, and is best for stomach and back sleepers
- Extra-firm: (34-36 ILD)

Latex, in general, is very supportive in nature. The springy substance pushes back into your grooves, thus always supporting your body where it sees fit. Additionally, with the PlushBeds topper, superior pressure point relief is achieved due to their airflow design, thus ensuring support for the shoulders, hips, and knees at all times. A perfect choice for older adults who need extra support.
Safety and Health
This might not mean much to people, but PlushBeds toppers are made in the USA. This ensures the highest product quality and standards throughout the manufacturing and distribution process. For example, they are GreenGuard Gold Certified. This means that the topper has met rigorous, third-party chemical emissions standards.
They also use Fresh Foam Technology, which ensures the topper is always odor-free. Additionally, the Talalay latex is hypoallergenic, anti-microbial, dust mite, and mildew resistant – which means great news for allergy sufferers.
Shipping and Returns
Shipping is free to the continental US (as expected at this price), but sadly, for some reason, the company is not excepting returns. If you need to cancel an order, this can be done, provided the product hasn’t been shipped out (usually 2-3 days after placing an order).
Value For Money
Latex toppers aren’t cheap, but they are much cheaper than buying a whole new latex mattress. Considering you can enjoy the luxury of latex from circa $350 (depending on the size you opt for), this is a good purchase. Some latex mattresses can cost ten-fold that amount. However, is the PlushBeds Natural Latex worth the money? In our opinion, yes. Compared to other toppers (not just latex), it is competitively priced and offers all the benefits that a high-end topper should.
If you really fancy this topper but are worried about the price, it’s available via financing through Klarna. Pay it off within 6 or 12 months (depending on your plan), and you’ll get 0% financing, subject to terms.
Our PlushBeds Topper Ratings
Overall this is an excellent addition to the company’s lineup of toppers (they also do memory foam and wool toppers). The price is just right, you won’t be getting a bargain here, but nor is it overpriced. The topper has all the traits of an organic, eco-friendly, health-friendly luxury bedding product.
The only two things which we could fault was the lack of an included cover (which isn’t really essential) and the no-returns policy. Other than that, if you’re a consumer in the market for one of these, this is a top-quality product that should be high on your list.
